Our story

Dutch designer Egbert Pos has been pushing the boundaries of furniture and lighting design since 1981. His latest innovation, coEco, began with a simple challenge: finding a more sustainable alternative to the plastic and cardboard waste used to package his creations.

Millions of tonnes of coconut husk are burned every year. coEco panels exist to give that fibre a second life as a serious building material — one that performs against fire, water and noise while showing the beauty of where it came from.

The process

Four steps, one patented press

  1. 01

    Collect

Husk left over from coconut harvesting is gathered from partner farms instead of being burned.

  2. 02

    Clean & align

Fibres are washed, dried and combed into a consistent mat with controlled moisture content.

  3. 03

    Press

Our patented heat-press binds the mat with a mineral binder — no formaldehyde, no virgin timber.

  4. 04

    Finish

Panels are calibrated, sanded or grooved, then graded by surface character before shipping.
